Maxim Mikhailov — Zelenograd, Moscow

Community volunteer and small-business owner from Kryukovo, a district of Zelenograd, an exclave of Moscow some 40 kilometres north-west of the city centre. I help neighbours write appeals to local authorities and get real answers rather than form letters. Community work since 2015, my own business since 2021.

What I do

Everything I write and publish is in Russian; this site is an English summary of who I am and what I do. The details, with dates and photos, are in the biography.

1

Appeals that get answers

I have been writing to district and city authorities since I was seventeen. The first reply I ever got was a brush-off, so I learned to write appeals that cannot be brushed off: the right addressee, the facts, the legal references. Now I help neighbours do the same.

2

Checking shelves for expired food

Since 2020 I have been checking expiry dates in Zelenograd supermarkets. In 2024 I twice found expired goods in Perekrestok supermarkets, in Kryukovo and in Staroye Kryukovo: both times I showed them to the management and got a refund, and the second time I talked to the deputy manager about expiry checks. When I rechecked the Kryukovo shop a year later, nothing was expired. I won't claim it was all my doing, but the shelves got cleaner.

3

Youth Chamber and war memorials

I have been a member of the Youth Chamber of Kryukovo district, a volunteer body attached to the municipal council, since 2017. We look after the district's five war graves dating from 1941, join clean-up days and go on the district administration's inspection walks around the courtyards.

4

Elections and observation

I have worked as a technical specialist at a polling station, responsible for the electronic voting equipment, and in September 2024 I spent three days as an election observer on behalf of the Moscow Public Chamber, the city's civic consultative body.

Who I am

Maxim Mikhailov, Zelenograd

Born in Zelenograd on 6 June 2000, the son of a carpenter and a seamstress. I grew up in the Matushkino district, moved to Kryukovo in 2015, and since summer 2025 I have lived in neighbouring Staroye Kryukovo, while all my community work is still in Kryukovo.

Youth Chamber of Kryukovo district since 2017, public adviser to the head of the district administration since 2018: together we look after war memorials, join clean-up days and the administration's inspection walks around the courtyards, and check expiry dates in shops. At elections I have worked as a technical specialist at a polling station and as an observer.

Entrepreneur: Demokrit, an online laboratory-glassware shop, and MishaAI, a Russian-language gateway to AI models. No employees; I do everything myself.

Where I work: Zelenograd and Kryukovo

Zelenograd is an outlying administrative area (okrug) of Moscow, an exclave some 40 kilometres north-west of the city centre, founded in 1958 and later developed as the centre of the Soviet microelectronics industry; it is still home to MIET, the National Research University of Electronic Technology. Kryukovo is its largest district, on the far side of the railway from the old town, around Kryukovo station. In late November and early December 1941 the fighting around Kryukovo was among the closest to Moscow of the whole war; the district's five war graves hold defenders of Moscow who fell in 1941.

The district's institutions and places that come up on this site:

  • Kryukovo district administration (uprava)
  • Zhilishchnik, the city housing maintenance company
  • Municipal council of Kryukovo
  • Youth Chamber of the district
  • Kryukovo railway station, on the D3 cross-city commuter line
  • School No. 2045, my school

Projects

Two small businesses, a resident's guide to Zelenograd and a neighbourhood movement. I run all of them on my own.

Demokrit

An online shop selling laboratory glassware: flasks and test tubes for schools, students and laboratories across Russia. Sole proprietor since December 2021.

MishaAI

A website that brings AI models from different developers together in one place, with a Russian-language interface and payment in roubles. Launched in 2026.

mishkazel.ru

My Russian-language site: a resident's guide to Zelenograd with more than 160 pages on clinics, public-service centres, housing, schools and how to write appeals that get answered.

Demarch

A community of neighbours learning to get results from local institutions. The name comes from the demarch, the elected head of a deme, a self-governing district in ancient Athens; the rule is to take responsibility for what is within arm's reach.

I write about the district, appeals, shop checks and my projects. All of it is in Russian.
